Eugene Irish Cultrual Festival 2012

It’s a weekend of Celtic music and culture! Learn about (and play) Irish fiddle music, and enjoy a weekend of fun at the 9th Annual Eugene Irish Cultural Festival!

Friday, March 9th: Start your weekend with a performance from traditional band Bua, winners of the Irish Music Awards’ 2009 “Top Traditional Group” award. Bua is a quartet comprised of talented U.S. musicians who play Irish traditional music with “a precision and intensity that is rarely heard on this side of the Atlantic.” Bua has performed at many of the top Irish and folk festivals in North America including the National Folk Festival, the Milwaukee Irish Festival, the Dublin Irish Festival, Celtic Fest Chicago and more. Now they play Eugene, and you can hear them Friday, Mar. 9, 8 pm at Beall Hall, UO. Tickets

Saturday, March 10th: Workshops and music run all day on Saturday, during the Eugene Irish Cultural Festival at Sheldon High School. A range of activities are available, from workshops and vendors, to family activities and live music. Jodie plans to attend the fiddle workshop, and you can also hear her play and discuss traditional Celtic music during “Celtic Duo,” at 1 p.m. in the Band Room. You will need to sign up for the fiddle workshops. Interested? See the schedule and sign up here.
