Suzuki Cello Teacher
Elizabeth Gergel is excited to join the ESMA faculty as instructor of Suzuki cello. A recent arrival to Eugene, Elizabeth served on the faculty of the Suzuki Strings program at the University of South Carolina and the Palmetto Center for the Arts in Columbia, SC, in addition to maintaining a private studio. While living in South Carolina she also maintained an active performing career, regularly appearing with the South Carolina Philharmonic, the Symphony Orchestra of Augusta, GA, and the Long Bay Symphony in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Elizabeth Gergel is a registered Suzuki Cello Teacher, having completed Pre-Twinkle through Book 7 teacher training with Dr. Tanya Carey of Chicago. She plans to complete Books 8-10 training in 2016. She is an active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and plans to attend the upcoming biennial conference in May 2016. Elizabeth started taking Suzuki cello lessons at the age of 5 and attended many summer Suzuki institutes as a child.
Elizabeth is excited to join the University of Oregon community as a Graduate Teaching Fellow. She recently completed her undergraduate studies at the University of South Carolina, studying with Dr. Robert Jesselson.
In addition to playing cello, Elizabeth is an avid runner and yogi. She also enjoys cooking, hiking, and meeting new people.
